漬物由来乳酸菌 Lactobacillus plantarum TK61406の摂取はラット盲腸ビフィズス菌数を増加させる

　This study aimed to select lactic acid bacteria isolated from pickles as probiotics. First，a thousand strains of lactic acid bacteria were isolated from various pickles，and Lactobacillus plantarum TK61406 (TK61406) was selected，based on its resistance to bile and artificial digestive juices in vitro. We then examined the viability and functional properties of TK61406 in vivo，using rats which orally received saline or TK61406 (10 log cfu/ 1 mL daily) for 7 days. The fecal concentration of viable TK61406 was 9.1±1.2 log cfu/g feces. The fecal concentrations of aerobic bacteria，lactobacilli，bifidobacteria and eubacteria were higher in rats which received TK61406 compared with those which received saline. Rats were fed a control diet or a diet containing TK61406 (11.7 log cfu/kg diet)，3 % fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) or both for 14 days. Although ingestion of TK61406 alone did not affect total organic acid concentrations in the cecum，fecal concentrations of bifidobacteria significantly increased in rats fed TK61406 regardless of the presence or absence of FOS. In a similarly designed experiment with 5 % chinese cabbage，TK61406 and chinese cabbage (CC) separately induced significant increases in cecal concentrations of bifidobacteria. Furthermore，both TK61406 and CC increased the cecal concentration of lactobacilli，and an additive effect in lactobacilli proliferation was observed for TK61406 in combination with CC. Finally，rats were fed a control diet or a diet containing viable or dead TK61406 (11.7 log cfu/kg diet) for 7 days. Ingestion of viable but not dead TK61406 increased the concentration of cecal bifidobacteria. The data suggests that TK61406 modulates intestinal microflora，especially bifidobacteria，and that the effect is primarily due to the ability of TK61406 to reach the colon in a viable condition.
